Learn Internet Marketing - 5 Steps to Writing an SEO Blog Post

So, you decided to learn internet marketing. The first thing you're told is that you need to build a list. It is the one thing that will deliver you success. But, to build your list you need to drive traffic to your website. There are a lot of different ways that you can drive traffic to your website, and the trick is to find one that works for you, and leverage it.
When I first set out to learn internet marketing, I had more time than money. I was looking for a way to drive traffic that only cost me in my time. That's when I was introduced to the idea of an SEO Blog post. To this day, it is my favourite way to drive traffic, and one that I continue to do to this day. The best part: it is really simple. Here are the 5 simple steps to write an SEO blog post, and put you on the fast track to learn internet marketing.
1. Keyword Research
The first thing you need to know is what keyword you want Google to rank you for. The simple way to figure this out is to search "Google AdWords Keyword Tool" on Google, and use the site that Google provides. When you input a search term, it will tell you how many people search that term each month, and what the competition is like. There are many good search terms out there with high search rates and low competition. Pick the low hanging fruit, and you will be miles ahead.
2. Write a Relevant Post
After you have your keyword, it's time to write your post. When writing, you want to make sure that you are writing something relevant to your keyword, and something that will offer value for the reader. If your keyword is "learn internet marketing" and you write a post about your thoughts on NFL, Google will put you all the way to the bottom of the search barrel. As well, if your post has no value, and is just a post with your keyword spammed throughout, Google will find out and put you to the bottom as again. Besides, if you provide relevant and valuable information to your readers, they will be more likely to share your post, and you could very well create something viral! (That is good!)
3. Have 1-3% Keyword Density
Now this is most important point, whether you are just starting to learn internet marketing, or have done it for years. When writing your post, you want to use your keyword exactly as is throughout your post. For instance, if your keyword is still learn internet marketing, using the keyword internet marketing learnings or teaching internet marketing will not give you the results you are looking for. You need to use the exact phrase learn internet marketing so Google will understand that is your keyword. As well, you want to make sure you use it often enough, but not too often. For instance, in a 500 word article you want your keyword in 5-15 times. Any more and you risk losing all the leverage you worked to gain. However, too little and Google won't understand what your keyword is. It is also a good practice to have your keyword in the first and last line of your post.
4. Use the Image Tags
This is a simple and easy way to get some SEO "juice." When Google goes through and reads your blog post looking for keywords, it can't tell what any images on your site are actually about. However, it can read a description of them, that smart marketers know how to use to their advantage. Those are the name of the image, and the alt text tag. When Google gets to the image, it will read the file name, as well as the alt text, and if you set both to show your keyword, Google will interpret that as being relevant to your search. Plus, Google loves images on web pages, so using them is always a best practice. Now, if you are just starting to learn internet marketing, you may not know how to use the alt text tag for an image, but if you use WordPress to blog (which I strongly recommend), then when you upload a photo, WordPress has a specific spot in the photo for you to put the alt text. It is really easy to do, and can work wonders for your SEO.
